My name is Jeremy Rook. I am a people-focused UX professional with a master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction with over four years of experience performing research, designing web pages, and setting (and achieving) long-term goals for Enterprise UX teams. I love telling credible, rigorous, and authentic stories.

I solve problems. I help people use technology by acting as their advocate in every situation.

Apart from my abilities in the above areas, I am a Christian, husband, father, athlete, tinkerer, and germanophile with a passion for helping others.

Auto-Owners Insurance, User Experience Research Lead

June 2018- July 2022

As a UX Designer and the UX research lead for our internal UX consulting team, I performed both research and design work day in and day out. Usability tests comprised a large number of my responsibilities, as did creating mock-ups in Axure RP. I used many methods of user testing and research, which has equipped me for a wide variety of work that I am presented with. Work included improvement of employee experience and creating insurance quoting systems. Much of the work I do here is proprietary information, and I am unable to list specifics of the work on a public site like this.

Michigan State University, IT administrator / Business Analyst

March 2014 - June 2018

Utilizing my certification in ITIL Foundations, I implemented and maintained a proactive IT role within CABS. I was tasked with projects like Exchange Server migrations, computer system RFPs, desktop troubleshooting, and basic server administration. I also acted as a facilitator between the business team and technology, providing insight into how business needs can be translated into technological solutions. I applied my understanding of UX principles to the IT domain, which led to a more effective technology and happier users. I have extensive experience in troubleshooting Mac OS, Windows 10, Dropbox, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Holt Junior Rams Tennis, Head Coach

February 2017 - Present

I am the head coach of Holt's Junior High Tennis program. As the head coach, I am responsible for the growth and performance of roughly 40 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I have grown my leadership skills, and have been able to continue my lifelong love of tennis as an activity, and my passion for coaching and interacting with children.
